GWT Announces Acquisition of Water-Tech Specialties, Inc. a California Based Water Treatment Firm
South Holland, IL | Fremont, CA July 13th, 2020– Global Water Technology, Inc. (GWT), an industry leader in water and waste water treatment solutions announces the acquisition of Water-Tech Specialties, Inc. (WTS), a Fremont, California based water treatment company.
As a growth oriented leader in the water treatment industry, this acquisition fits into GWT’s national expansion strategy as it expands GWT’s presence deeper into the Western, USA marketplace. In fall 2019, GWT initiated a Southwest territory with the addition of several experienced representatives and the opening of a regional terminal in Phoenix, AZ. GWT’s SW territory previously provided service to clients in CA, NV, and AZ. With this move, GWT will provide an even higher level of on-site service, solutions, and support throughout the West and Southwest territories.
GWT’s reputation for superior service and creating cost effective, resource saving, and equipment preserving strategies has allowed for continued growth and expansion throughout the United States and across a wide variety of industries. These strategies and services aligns seamlessly with WTS’ mission of providing customized water treatment programs for all customers based on their specific needs by taking the time to get to know each company and discuss solutions based on individual need.
WTS was founded in 1983 and specializes in personal service for the commercial and industrial sectors of the water treatment market. Their reputation for superior service and solutions made them an ideal partner to facilitate GWT’s Western expansion.
WTS will eventually merge its business operations and assets into GWT’s established portfolio. GWT has retained WTS’ leadership, technical, and administrative staff for the long-term future. By virtue of this move, GWT expands its Western footprint by over 350 additional customers serviced at over 500 physical locations throughout the state of California. This move also adds a Fremont, CA based office and distribution hub and three (3) Certified Water Technologists to GWT’s operation.
This acquisition will further GWT’s reach across the United States while simultaneously expanding WTS’ product offerings to existing clients to include:
- ASHRAE Standard 188 Compliant Water Management Programs
- Legionella testing and remediation services
- Cooling tower cleaning services
- GWT Support Services along with GWT’s equipment, engineering, and installation division
- GWTReports – GWT’s cloud based reporting and data management software
- GWT Academy – GWT’s internal and client education/training arm
- Waste water treatment products and services: coagulants, polymers, dry polymer, equipment, engineering & design services, on-site technical support, and environmental consulting
- Environmental Consulting – Air emission testing, discharge water permitting, and general consulting
This acquisition marks the sixth by GWT since 2015 and the first in 2020. The discovery and acquisition of like-minded water treatment organizations continues to serve as a key part of GWT’s corporate growth strategy. As such, GWT is actively looking for small to mid-sized water treatment firms exploring ownership transition. Aligning transition strategies with GWT’s growth vision has provided previous owners on-going value through employment, transition customization, security, reduction in risk, fair/equitable compensation, and long-term viability.

Jack Walker, CWT
Consultant & Division President – Water-Tech Specialties
Jack, with the support of his late wife Clare, founded WaterTech Specialties after rising to a senior sales position at another California based WT firm, Skasol, Inc. With WaterTech, Jack quickly built a reputation for sound customer service, technical expertise, and getting the job done right. Jack and Clare built a family oriented company which brought together many great people under one roof. While Jack grew the company through sales, technical ability, and service, Clare was the glue that held the company together, handling most of the back office and administrative function of the company. Over time, Jack and Clare’s children, Bonnee and Scot joined the firm.
Jack is also well known for his involvement in AWT. Jack has held board positions and committee positions for decades and continues to be an active member in the organization. Jack will continue to work with GWT/WT, hopefully for many years to come as a Technical and Sales leader.
