Global Water Technology, Inc. Acquires Great Lakes Treatment Corporation

 In Corporate News

South Holland, Illinois, USA, March 29th, 2021– Global Water Technology, Inc. (GWT), an industry leader in water and wastewater treatment solutions, announced the acquisition of Great Lakes Treatment Corporation (GLTC), a Sunfield, Michigan based water treatment company.

As a well known and trusted partner to their clients across a wide array of industries throughout Michigan, GLTC fits well into GWT’s national expansion strategy and builds upon previous investments in the Midwest including the initiation of operations in Michigan in 2018 and the 2019 acquisitions of Lakeland Chemical Specialties (WI) and Butler Chemical Company (IL). Founder, Kerry Haynor’s involvement in trade associations such as the Associations of Water Technologies (AWT), technical publications, and providing educational opportunities to aspiring facility engineers and managers has created a strong legacy for himself and his company as an industry stalwart which GWT is happy to expand upon.

“As we continue our mission to provide customized, service oriented solutions to our clients across the United States, finding like-minded firms to join and help sustain that mission has never been more important,” stated Michael Byerley, President and CEO of Global Water Technology, Inc. “Specifically, with the addition of GLTC, we will be able to quickly and sustainably expand our  core service offerings throughout Michigan and quickly capture additional market share unavailable to either firm prior to coming together. This is truly an exciting and synergistic acquisition for both companies.”

GLTC’s origins date back to the 70’s when its founder, Kerry Haynor started his career working for Mogul. After some time at Mogul, Kerry started his own water treatment venture, Enerco, with a business partner. After a 10-year run with Enerco, Kerry and his business partner amicably parted ways which is when Kerry founded GLTC with his brother, Rodney Haynor. In that time Kerry developed a depth of technical expertise and dedication to client success that formed the foundation for GLTC’s success, and makes him and GLTC the perfect partner to further GWT’s strengthening of its upper Midwest service region.

This acquisition will further GWT’s reach across the United States while simultaneously expanding GLTC’s product offerings to existing clients to include:

  • ASHRAE Standard 188 Compliant Water Management Programs
  • Legionella testing and remediation services
  • Cooling tower cleaning services
  • GWT Support Services along with GWT’s equipment, engineering, and installation division
  • GWT Reports – GWT’s cloud-based reporting and data management software
  • GWT Academy – GWT’s internal and client education/training arm
  • Waste water treatment products and services: coagulants, polymers, dry polymer, equipment, engineering & design services, on-site technical support, and environmental consulting
  • Environmental Consulting – Air emission testing, discharge water permitting, and general consulting
  • Unique Technologies – Mexel – Surface Treatment Technology
